Yesterday I was riding in a cab from Bethpage, Long Island to Jericho, Long Island. As my cab driver pulled into the Rainbow Media Complex in Jericho, we heard an ad on the radio to promote the new show, Dexter. This is what it said:

“Dexter: Finally, a serial killer you can root for.”

What? Did I miss something? Did someone from the promos department not listen to this. That has to be one of the most idiotic lines I’ve ever heard aloud. I mean, I don’t even know what to say about it. We’re rooting for him because he’s helping cops catch other serial killers. That’s like saying, “Finally, a serial killer you can not feel guilty about being sexually attracted because his boyish good looks never physically killed anyone.” Or maybe it’s not like saying that at all but it was completely silly. Maybe it’s not. Maybe serial killers are completely awesome people with winning personalities and maybe just maybe we’re better off without the people with specific traits that they deem expendable. Did you ever think of it that way? I never have. In any case, YOU GO DEXTER!!!
