Poor Pluto has been stripped of it’s Planethood. Is it just me or is planethood something we take for granted? We never think a planet could lose it’s title. Once a planet always a planet, that’s what I say. The Milky Way is down to eight planets. Hopefully Neptune doesn’t drift off leaving us with seven, that would be a disaster. Every Wednesday we arrive at the impression that we are reaching some sort of invisible barrier that we refer to as a “hump” that once we cross will somehow make the rest of the week much more tolerable. This morning I came to the realization that I was not relieved at all to reach this point. My week still held the possibility of not one but two more days in which misery could and probably would inflict itself upon my person. I’m not saying this week has been all bad but throughout the work week, I long for the warm blanket that is Friday. To refer to Wednesday as hump day seems to be a misnomer.
A week is not of the dromedary nor bactrian species of camel. It has not one, not two, not three but four humps. Their names are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday respectively. Furthermore, I greatly dislike being in an elevator and someone saying “It’s hump day” to me, when I know that Thursday might be as much of a grind as the day that preceded it. If we were to adorn one day of the week with the title “Hump Day” I would much rather refer to Thursday as such, seeing as it is at the end of that day in which we clear that final hurdle towards our beloved weekend, climbing our final hill beneath which lies the valley of weekend glory.
What say you readers? Should we make Thursday the new hump day. If not it was just a suggestion. I’m also in favor of the 3 day work week spanning Tuesday through Thursday because people are much more productive on those days.

In the attempt to make EvanKessler.com eminently more readable, I decided on a whim last night to switch the format over to a regular blog. However, now having done so, I’m not sure I’m too keen on the idea. True, having my own blog minus all of the clutter of the previous evankessler.com might give me a nicer space to share my stories and thoughts, and I might even gain a few more readers as they browse through other blogs on blogspot. However, the thing that worries me is that perhaps I’ve sold out my individuality for a pretty new page. Gone are the blog archives, the guerrilla interview, the official biography, and the songs of the week page. They still exist but I’m having a difficult time trying to make them live on the Internet in plain view.
So, dear sweet readers, I leave it up to you…Do you like this new format or do you want to go back to the way it was not so long ago…when birds sang, bears growled, and puppies whimpered for their food all in the name of keeping it simple? Or should this new day endure as we look toward a new life, a clean slate if you will, of blog possibilities? What say you?
